­YOUNG PEOPLE'S COMPETITION 

 

For children finishing K-11 grade by June 30, 2009

 

 

May 8, 2009, 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm

May 9, 2009, 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm 

 

Northwest Indiana Symphony Rehearsal Hall
Center for Visual and Performing Arts, Munster

 

 

Audition by appointment only, after April 13, 2009
Registration Deadline: April 27, 2009
Winners from 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 seasons not eligible.

 

 

Audition Fee is $15 per entry

 

 

To Qualify, the student must: 

  • Play any instrument or sing (duets and trios accepted)
  • Memorize any piece of their choice (2 minute maximum)
  • Finish grade K-11 by June 30, 2009
  • Reside in Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Jasper, Newton or Starke Counties, OR study with teachers who teach in those counties, OR be a current member of the Northwest Indiana Symphony Youth Orchestra
  • Must provide their own accompanist for auditions
  • Winners must provide their own NISO-approved accompanist at the concert
  • Contestant cannot be a winner in the 2007-2008 or 2008-2009 seasons

 

 

Winners will play their piece (2 minutes maximum) at a classical, pops, education, outreach or summer concert within 18 months following the competition. These assignments are at the discretion of the Music Director.
