Violin Repertoire 09
All violinists are expected to play the 1st movement (exposition) from a standard concerto of your choice (unaccompanied) in addition to the orchestral excerpts
Violinists auditioning for a titled position (Assoc. CM, Asst. Prin. 2nd) should also prepare an Unaccompanied Bach – movement of your choice.
Orchestral Excerpts: Play "1st" parts for audition unless otherwise indicated:
Brahms “Symphony No. 4” (1st mvt, last 53 measures)
Beethoven “Symphony No. 7" (1st mvt, mm 84-130)
Schumann “Symphony No. 2" (Scherzo, opening to 20 after K)
Prokofiev "Classical Symphony" (4th mvt opening)
Strauss “Don Juan” (opening to letter D)
Rachmaninoff: “Symphony No. 2" (2nd vln. Part: Mvt. 2 Meno Mosso after 32 to 4 before 35)
Wagner: “Der Meistersinger Overture" (mm 33 to 41)
Mozart: “Symphony No. 39" (4th movement begin. to A)
For Associate Concertmaster and Asst. Principal 2nd please add the following:
Brahms “Symphony No. 1” (2nd mvt solo)
Rimsky-Korsakov “Capriccio Espagnol" (mvts III & IV, solo passages)
Rimsky-Korsakov “Scheherazade” (mvt. III, solo after K to N)
Strauss: “Death and Transfiguration" (10 before O to 9 after P)
Prokofiev: “Classical Symphony” (last mvt., beginning to 9 after B)
Trumpet Repertoire 09

Beethoven “Leonore Overture #3" (offstage fanfare)
Brahms ”Academic Festival Overture" (opening chrale-14m after ltr C thru 10 after ltr D)
Gershwin “An American in Paris" (4 before reh 46 to 2 before reh 47) (pickup to reh 57 to reh 59)
Mahler “Symphony 3" (3rd mvt Comodo Scherzando- Post horn solo one bar before #14 to
3 bars after #15 and 3 before reh #27 to 4 after reh #30)
Mussorgsky “Pictures at an Exhibition" (m1-8 and mvt 6 – Goldenberg & Schmuyle)
Stravinsky “Petrushka" (Ballerinas dance – mm 134-139)
Ravel “Piano Concerto" (opening solo: Allegramente - 12 bars)
Rimsky-Korsakov: “Capriccio Espagnol" (6th movement – up to letter L)
